Back to Blogging*

I am going to try this whole blogging thing out again. I began my blog back in August, but at the time I could not keep up with the blog and everything going on in my life. We have moved from Fort Lewis, Washington, to Fort Bliss, Texas, and are all settled in, so I am going to give this blog thing another go. Right now I am working on new dresses for spring and summer, with flower girls in mind. I am also working on lined dresses and adult tutus. Tomorrow I plan on organizing my "office" because its a hot mess!

My unproductive productive day

Sooo it almost midnight and I am just now about to begin sewing. I spent a lot of time today marketing online, taking care of a very angry two year old and running errands. Josh suggested that I have sewing days, and marketing days, because it takes so much time to market but thats just not fun! I have wanted to make a pettiskirt for awhile now but was too intimidated and this past weekend I sat down (for an entire day) and tried and I am convinced I can do it, now that I get the general concept its easy (just time consuming). However I don't have the proper supplies (nylon chiffon, and a proper fitting ruffler foot). I plan on getting a ruffler foot thats made for my machine in the very near future (after returning this generic one to Joannes) and ordering Nylon Chiffon offline since all the fabric store in my area only carry polyester (word to the wise, do not waist your money trying to ruffle polyester chiffon all it does is fray!!).  But since I am dying to do a pettiskirt I think I am going to practice by making a tulle pettiskirt and using elastic thread to ruffle. Ive read that the ones may not look as soft but are much more durable, we will see how it goes!

Zebra Dresssssss

I have been trying different style dresses to sell in my Boutique and this is by far my favorite!! I still need to add a monogrammed fabric button to the front but I got so excited when I tried it on Layla I had to take a few pictures! She loves the dress (can you tell by the sweet poses). I hope to finish it tomorrow, get some better photographs, and then add it to my Etsy. Im also working on two welcome home dresses for the sweetest little girls in the whole world, I am so glad their daddy will be home soon! Then on to my sports themed tutus =)

First Post..

This is my first blog so yall are going to have to bear with me while I learn the ropes! I started this blog to write about my day to day life while trying to start my own small business while being a military wife.  I have an online store Sewlovedboutique.com and also an Etsy page http://www.etsy.com/shop/SewLovedBoutique. I will be posting photos of my new creations and ideas (and also my mistakes) and writing about daily challenges.  My husband Josh is in the Army and we are currently stationed in Fort Lewis, WA but we will be moving to El Paso, Texas soon. We are from South Carolina, and hopefully we will be going home to visit soon! We have a 2 year old daughter named Layla and she models most of my creations =). I plan on introducing a lot of new items to my online store within the next few weeks, and im really excited (and stressed!!). I am currently working on pettiskirts (holy fluff) sports themed tutus, acu dresses, and much more. I am trying to prepare for a home business expo in Olympia Washington which I think is going to be a great opportunity for me!! I was also asked to make a dress for a silent auction for the Northern Coalition for HIV/AIDs and I am super excited! I am going to make an over the top Red AIDs awareness dress and ill keep you guys updated with my progress!
